Spencer focuses his practice on trademark and copyright law, with an emphasis on trademark prosecution, brand strategy, and intellectual property enforcement. He has experience managing trademark matters at all stages of the process, including conducting clearance searches, preparing and filing applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and responding to Office Actions. Spencer counsels clients across a range of industries on the development, protection, and enforcement of their brand identities.

Spencer also advises on broader intellectual property issues, including copyright registration and infringement matters. He brings a practical, client-centered approach to his work, helping clients navigate evolving IP challenges with strategic guidance and tailored solutions.

Prior to joining Wood IP, Spencer gained hands-on trademark experience through clinical work and private practice. His early legal career also included work in administrative law and litigation support, where he developed strong investigative and negotiation skills.

Spencer is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and is committed to continuous professional development in the field of intellectual property law.

Outside of his practice, Spencer is an avid animal lover—especially when it comes to dogs—and a dedicated sports fan. He enjoys following hockey, lacrosse, football, and basketball, and appreciates the strategy and teamwork that mirror his approach to client service.
