Wood IP is Recipient of Facebook’s 2020 Platinum Diversity Rating for Patent Outside Counsel
“Facebook has recognized Wood IP with its highest diversity rating for U.S.- based patent outside counsel.
Firms were evaluated based on several factors including diversity staffing on Facebook matters, meaningful and measurable leadership and high-value opportunities given to diverse attorneys working on Facebook matters, diversity initiatives at the firm, and whether the firm has a diverse relationship partner, and is diverse-owned. Larger patent teams were included in the overall rankings, while smaller teams, such as Wood IP, were awarded individual diversity ratings.“
GDC Industries LLC is a small business performing materials development work under Federal SBIR programs. During that work significant Intellectual Property was discovered and/or invented. We did a long search for patent attorneys and finally selected Wood IP because of their specific talent and knowledge of chemistry and materials. After a careful review of the existing patent landscape we filed for a patent and received our notice of acceptance in May 2018. We expect to file additional patents from the original all as a result of the careful and noteworthy counsel provided by the Wood IP staff. We highly recommend this firm to any small business looking for expert guidance in developing a patent portfolio.
Wood IP partner Archie Williams, a retired USPTO special program examiner and special laws expert in computer software, participates as a member of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s IP Subcommittee, its private roundtable of IP industry experts. The roundtable is advising U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Chris Coons (D-DE), Chair and Ranking Member, how to revise 35 U.S.C. § 101 to clarify which inventions qualify for patent protection.
